Consequence or Hand of God... you be the judge.
One of our board members and parents, Dale Pepper, penned this a short time ago and I think it is well worth sharing with all of those who love and support CCS......
I believe that God has been a driving force from day one when we learned that RBA would close at the end of the 2011 school year.
A steering committee was formed to see what could be done to continue Christian Education in eastern Joliet and New Lenox area.
The steering committee got the word out and proposed a general plan. Then a parent ran school board was set up to oversee the development of Community Christian School.
My first witness of how God opened doors for CCS is when I and Tom Scott attended a surplus school supply auction on July 2 in Plainfield. We were able to purchase school desks and chairs from 75 cents to 1 dollar each. We were bidding against guys buying them for scrap metal.
The next challenge came when Community Christian School was forced to look for rental space, since Ridgewood Baptist no longer wished to house a school at their location. Our first available location was in Shorewood. We reviewed the site and started seeing a vision of how the school could be set up at that location. We knew that our preference was for something back in the eastern part of Joliet or New Lenox area, so we were thinking OK we can make this work for one year or as Kari Black would say we can make this work for 4 quarters. We were making plans and preparing to sign a year lease the next day when we received a call from Pastor Keith at Christ Mission Church.
So once again I believe God stepped in to guide us here to Christ Mission Church, as I said we were one day away from signing our lease with the location in Shorewood. Pastor Keith and Christ Mission Church have been like and open door for us, basically whatever we need they are more than open to share and allow us to make plans to do what we need to accommodate Community Christian School.
My next experience is that we needed to move furniture that was purchased at the auction to Christ Mission Church. Again one team had moved furniture in the morning, but shared that they were able to rent the last truck in the area. We needed a truck again that afternoon and knew our chances were poor to obtain a truck. However we pulled into the rental yard and their sat a 26’ truck. We went in to acquire on its availability and once again the owner shared he has 2 people that reserved a truck and neither has showed up – the truck is yours.
Over and over we have seen items like this with many people donating their time and talents. We have been blessed with people donating carpeting, we have had drop ceiling donated and installed free of charge, we have had professional dry wallers come and tape/mud and sand the walls. We have had several computer donated as well for the school to use. There are many people who have spent many hours here at CCS since July 20th when this all started at Christ Mission Church. Oh, I know we still have several items to finish up, but if you saw where we started from I think you would be amazed.
I know I for one am looking forward to this first year of many years of Community Christian School, I believe that God is with CCS and has supplied us with a great location, with great teachers, eager students who are ready to learn and most of all with you the parents who see the same vision that we of CCS see.
I am excited to see what else God has in store for us starting tomorrow, August 23, 2011 as day one of Community Christian School gets underway.

Wow! What a month!
One word comes to mind....WOW! So much has happened in this last month or so for CCS! We have found a home, we have been doing MAJOR cleaning, painting, remodeling, organizing, PAINTING, planning, PAINTING....and, um, did I mention we've been PAINTING? But things are shaping up and looking great! There is still plenty to do before our doors open on Tuesday so if you can help PLEASE come on out! It would be VERY appreciated!
Well, our sports season is underway. Girls Volleyball teams and the boys' soccer team. If you are in grades 6th thru 12th and interested in playing on either team, it is NOT too late! You can contact the school office to get more info!
We had our very first worship team meeting today and had a great turn out! I'm so excited to be coordiating w/ this musical group of young people! Worship Team is open to anyone 8th grade and older who is interested in being a part of the leading of music in our weekly chapel services. Feel free to see Mrs. Doty for details! Our next meeting is scheduled for this Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 at the school so feel free to come check it out! Share your God-given talents! *Special Note: I'm looking for someone to assist with putting our songs in a slideshow format and/or powerpoint. If you are gifted in this area and would be willing to help, please see Mrs. Doty! Thanks!
We are also still recruiting for host families for a few more exchange students. Would you consider opening your home to one? Not everyone can go to foreign lands and share the gospel, so why not have them come to YOU?? Please call the school office for details or to express an interest....
And don't forget that this upcoming Monday, August 22nd is our Orientation Night! Come meet the teachers and get a glimpse of what this brand new school year will hold for YOU!
Only FIVE more days! Can't wait!
Blessings,
Mrs. Doty
